Creating My Dream Bedroom with The Sims 4: A Step-by-Step Guide

In the summer of 2023, I had to fully remodel my bedroom. When I say "fully," I mean the flooring, walls, and decorations. I was quite pleased to begin a new project since I had never been completely content with the appearance of my room. Fortunately, my father was really helpful. But that was because I lacked flooring skills, hehe!

It was a pleasant night; I had returned from a party and went to sleep. The rain was pouring outside, and the sound of it helped me relax. I was attempting to fall asleep when I heard some downpours. But I didn't see or understand where it was coming from. I went asleep thinking that this was not that serious and that I will deal with it in the morning. At 8 a.m., my parents barge into my bedroom, clearly worried and unhappy. I'm like, 'What's up?' , half at sleep. And that was the moment I discovered my bedroom was flooded! To provide further background, my bedroom is in the basement.

Why did i have to ?
My vision

So, obviously, we had to tear down my bedroom flooring to dehumidify them. We waited four months for the flooring to cure and the new wood planks to arrive. I was thinking about what I wanted to do with my bedroom almost every day for the past four months. I knew I wanted to get rid of some furniture and start over with my decorating. But I didn't want to spend a lot of money and wanted to see how my new space would come to life, so I decided to use The Sims 4! My aim for my new bedroom was to keep it primarily simple, with a style that ranged from Japanese to industrial, contemporary, and mid-century modern, but most importantly, fun!

The Sims 4

So if you're also thinking of redecorating your bedroom, I highly suggest using The Sims 4. But how can it help? I'll take you into the process of it. It's very very simple!

Initially, this was my bedroom. It was too maximalist for me, and I no longer wanted posters on the walls, etc. I wanted a more visually appealing and 'mature' bedroom.

Plan Your Bedroom

To begin, establish a plan of your bedroom. It does not need to be to scale. I didn't need it, personally. Add the windows, doors, balcony, floor type, and desired wallpaper / paint.

Add Furniture

If you don't have the money to change your furniture, you can leave it the same. Personally, I simply updated my workstation, but I opted to get rid of a lot of unnecessary stuff that I felt was taking up too much space in my bedroom. Keep in mind that some of your furniture may not be in the game. It is typical, and in this situation, you should select the one that seems the most similar.

Now Decorate!

With the new arrangement I created, I could see how much space I still had for decorating. So I added a bunch of plants, new blinds, soft lighting (extremely crucial!), a rug, and a few wall art pieces. I'd also like to add another little console table to put lights, books, and plants on it. But I still haven't had time to acquire certain stuff for my bedroom. I'm still taking things slowly, and you should too! Do not be impatient; decorating a space should take some time. That is how you will be more mindful about your decorating decisions.

Conclusion

So that's how I designed my dream bedroom in The Sims 4. Be aware that I have lots of packs and extensions in the game, which means I have more furniture and décor options. If you simply purchase the base game, you will have fewer choices.

You don't have the game ? I can make your bedroom for you!

Now that I'm becoming better at 3D bedroom renovation in The Sims, I enjoy developing fresh layouts and unique bedrooms, each with its own flair. Here are some of my most recent work.

My bedroom after! (It is STILL a work in progress!)

Here's how I imagine my bedroom look and feel. I want it to be fun and individualized in my own style, with beautiful decor and furniture pieces that I collect and put together. I'd appreciate a small reading place with plants and lighting. I want my room to be cozy while captivating.

There are still a few things I need to buy or make, such as the console table, wall art pieces, the chair, additional plants (maybe real ones this time, but ones that thrive in low lighting), and a rug!

I also assist people in decorating their bedrooms with The Sims 4, as well as another design tool for discovering fresh layouts that are more suitable.
